Khuje Khuje Jibon takes the formative 'Khuj'

Assamese Film Director Dhruva J Bordoloi of Dooronir Nirola Poja and Trojan fame has taken the formative 'Khuj' or step towards the production of his next film - Khuje Khuje Jibon, shooting of which commenced in July, 2026 in Jorhat.

"What if we could share our feelings with the people we love freely, without holding back, without the fear of being misunderstood? Khuje Khuje Jibon begins with that one question. It is a story about the things we mean to say and never do - the love that waits a lifetime to be spoken, and the people who go searching for it anyway" says Dhruva J Bordoloi about the film.

The title borrows its heartbeat from a song of the same name - the one that Papon had sung in Dooronir Nirola Poja, and that a generation of "Paponists" carried with them ever since.

Music and songs of the film are by none other than Bishrut Saikia.

The film reunites director Dhruva J Bordoloi with veteran actor Mintu Baruah, whose decades-long career spans collaborations with stalwarts from Bhabendra Nath Saikia to Bhupen Hazarika. Dooronir Nirola Poja marked a turning point in his career, winning him the Sailadhar Barua Award 2017. Now he returns to a story that, in many ways, brought him there. He's joined by Mridupawan Parasher, Nilakshi Hazarika and Shipisikha. The film also features Dr. Jayanta Das, one of Northeast India's renowned psychiatrists, who brings over 15 films and web series of acting experience to the role.

From the maker of Dooronir Nirola Poja - winner of Best Debut Director and Best Editor at the Prag Cine Awards 2017 - this is a quiet, deeply felt story told the way Dhruva J Bordoloi's cinema has always been known to tell one. Sound Design and Mix for the film is being done by National Award Winner Debajit Gayan.

Regarding the title, Dhruva J Bordoloi says "It resonates with the theme of our film. Khuje Khuje Jibon is built around this simple yet powerful belief - that many of life's biggest struggles begin with words left unsaid. By speaking our hearts out, we don't just change conversations, we change the direction of our lives one honest step at a time". When asked if Dooronir Nirola Poja and Khuje Khuje Jibon carries an identical theme, he says "Dooronir Nirola Poja was about finding a place to call it home while Khuje Khuje Jibon is about finding one's own voice".

As the director says, story of the film is relevant to many homes where love exists but words often fail - a communication gap between parents and children.

The film is all set to release in the month of May, 2027 and we wish the team of Khuje Khuje Jibon all the success in their pursuit.
